Our editor permitting, I would like to share with The Citizen readers a telephone conversation I had with Aaron Stubna regarding retraction of the section of the pro-liquor advertisement in The Citizen, Feb. 4, 2011, pertaining to Allegheny County. I reiterated this conversation to councilman Mark Helbling, Bellevue’s assistant administrative services director Katie Hale, and Allegheny County’s Allegheny Together department director, Lance Chimka.

Lack of Attendance was Sad

As a past member of Emsworth Council, a citizen of the community, and most importantly, the daughter of a veteran, I would like to express my sincere and deep sorrow regarding the noticeable empty seats at our memorial service. Where were the elected officials? This is a day for remembering the service and sacrifices made by our veterans.

Officials disagree over payments to councilman member

An Emsworth Council member is threatening to take action unless more than $5,000 is repaid to the borough by a fellow member of council.

Council member Paul Getz was paid $5,260 between April and August of 2009, representing salary for working on various projects in the borough. The number excludes his monthly $100 stipend for serving on council. None of the payments were preauthorized by council, according to council member David Heflin.
