The Northgate School Board approved a number of supplemental contracts at Monday's regular meeting, some without names, and others without amounts pending the results of teachers' contract negotiations.

For the marching band, Alyssa Myers will be paid $1,000 to work as the assistant director. Unnamed woodwinds, brass and percussion instructors each will be paid $300, as will a band announcer. A bandfront assistant will be paid $100.

Karen Klicker will be the play/musical director at an unknown amount.

Bellevue woman was WWII “Rosie”

Marie Elder of Bellevue belongs to a strongly patriotic organization that has a clock ticking against its existence.

That's because all of its members are over the age of 80, and recruitment of new ones simply isn't a possibility.

But that dire prospect does not diminish the personal connection with history that Marie feels when she slips into her Rosie the Riveter tee-shirt and begins to reminisce about the era that produced what many believe to be the greatest generation in American history.
