Rev. John Guest, senior pastor and rector of Christ Church at Grove Farm delivered farewell comments, along with his final sermon, to congregants on Sunday, Dec. 26, ending his work in those positions he has held for nearly the entire 15 years that the church has existed in its Duff Road location.

The Ohio Township church was formed in 1995 with approximately 120 people worshiping each week. Under Dr. Guest's leadership, attendance has grown to four Sunday morning services with the current participation of more than 1,500 people.

Betty Hunt Betty E. Dobson Hunt, 90, of Perrysville, formerly of Avalon and wife of the late Ralph M. Hunt, died Sunday, June 13, 2010.

Gabriele Arlia Gabriele Arlia, 81, of Bellevue, husband of the late Michelina Arlia, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010. He is survived by his son, Gennaro P. “Jerry” Arlia and his wife Mary Lou of Bellevue; his sister, Angela Arlia and her husband Antonio; five grandchildren, Andrea and Lona Arlia, Eric Havel and his wife Becky, Courtney Havel and Dana Kablack; four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Madilynn, Seth and Jayden; two nephews, Joseph Arlia and his wife Anne Marie and Nick Arlia and his wife Angela; and two grandnieces, Maria and Julia Arlia.

A “Cookie Walk” will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, Davis and McClure avenues in Brighton Heights, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Dec. 12.

Walter Beals Walter Beals, 67, of Ross Township, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009. Mr. Beals was a graduate of Bellaire High School and Duquesne University. He taught in the Pittsburgh Public School District for more than 30 years. During retirement, he enjoyed painting, sculpting, gardening and golf, tennis and bowling. He is survived by two children, Suzi Shaw and Steven Patton; and his sister, Tamara Pinarich. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Voynick.
