The Community at Holy Family Manor will host a Family Fun Day with activities for all ages on Saturday, July 30, 1-5 p.m.

The celebration commemorates the 40th anniversary of Mt. Nazareth Learning Center and the 45th anniversary of Holy Family Manor.

Those who attend will have the chance to learn about the programs available to the community, tour the facilities and see what services are provided.

Kenneth Todoverto Sr. Kenneth M. Todoverto Sr., 81, of Bellevue died Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Loretta Todoverto; four children, Kenneth Todoverto Jr. and his wife Sandy, Janice Barry and her husband Mike, Carla Pritchard and her husband Glenn and Donna Boyer; his sister, Louise Killian; and five grandchildren, Brian Verlihay and his wife Steph, Steven Verlihay, Glenn Pritchard Jr., Becky Pritchard and Ally Boyer.

Avonworth Community Park will hold its first annual Oktoberfest at the park's Mayernik Center on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The Oktoberfest will feature a full German dinner and German snacks, live German music from the band Heimat Klang, Penn Pilsner products and many other activities and entertainment.

Proceeds will benefit the rehabilitation of Miller Hall, with the goal of turning the historic park structure into a four-season community center.

The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth will host their sixth annual “Grateful Gathering” on Saturday, Oct. 1, 5 - 10 p.m. at Mt. Nazareth Center in Ross Township.

The event benefits the Sisters and their ministry to families, and features an evening of music and dancing, wine/chocolate and hors d’oeuvres, basket raffle and silent auction. The grand raffle has prizes of $1,000 cash, four tickets to a Steelers home game, and an Omaha Steak package valued at $170.

The Borough of Bellevue once again will advertise in The Citizen the names of people who have not made payments on their 2010 borough real estate taxes.

Tax collector Joe Nolan said that taxpayers who have installment payment plans will not be included in the published list.

After the mother of one of Susan Matthews’ closest friends passed away, the victim of breast cancer, she knew that she could not simply offer her condolences and go back to life and business as usual.

And it was her business, Matthews Arts on North Balph Avenue in Bellevue, that provided the perfect opportunity for a fund-raising project to support research that hopefully will lead to a cure for this disease.

Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU) has begun to enroll young children and pregnant mothers in its new Early Head Start program for low-income families.

Early Head Start is a free childhood development program for infants, toddlers, pregnant women and their families. Staff work with families to promote a child's health/development and assist pregnant women in accessing prenatal and postpartum care.

Families from Bellevue, Avalon, West View and Ross Township can participate.

Ohio Township Police are asking for the public assistance in solving two vehicle break-ins at Avonworth Community Park last week.

The first occurred in the early evening of Thursday, May 27. Police say that the back passenger side window was broken and a purse stolen from the trunk.

The second occurred on Saturday, May 29 in the early afternoon. The passenger side front window was broken and a purse stolen from the front seat.
