Avalon Library will host local author Maureen Frew on June 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Frew will read her book "Today's the Day! My New Shoes" for children ages 4-9.

Local authors launch new children’s book series

Today's the day I've been waiting for. I can hardly wait until my feet hit the floor. My clothes are ready, they're cleaned and pressed. In a few short moments I will be dressed. Down to the kitchen to get something to eat. Should I have cereal, or a breakfast treat? from "Today's the Day! My New Shoes"

Shop equipment donated Metal shop equipment deemed unnecessary by the Avonworth School Board has found a new home.

The board approved, at its regular meeting on June 8, the donation of various pieces of equipment to the A.W. Beattie Career Center. Beattie will receive a rotary bender, sheet metal roller, welding table, spot welder, sheet metal shear and a box and pan finger break.

A metal shop lathe will be donated to Carnegie Mellon University.
