Pat Dragowski admits that she feels honored by being named the North Boroughs YMCA's “Volunteer of the Year,” but she is quick to add that the honor should be shared by an enthusiactic board of directors.

Pat grew up in Point Breeze, lived in Bellevue in the mid-1970s, and then moved to Kilbuck after marrying her husband, Robert. She said that the Y has been important to her through all of her years in the North Boroughs.

"I exercised there for years, and my daughter, Laura, was in many of the classes while she was growing up."

Julia Janet McGurgan Julia Janet McGurgan of Catonsville, MD, died July 5, 2011. She was the wife of the late James H. McGurgan; She leaves four children, Joanne Edwards, Kathleen McGurgan, James McGurgan and Daniel McGurgan; a sister Dorothy Diehl; and grandchildren, Martin, Matthew, Angelee, Laura, Shaun, Justin, Megan and Lynn. A private service will be held in Pittsburgh at a later date. Arrangements will be made by the Sterling Ashton Schwab Witzke Funeral Home of Catonsville Inc.

Leslie Weigand Leslie J. Weigand, 80, of Brighton Heights, formerly of Avalon and Bloomfield and husband of the late Myrtle Melder Weigand, died Friday, July 31, 2009. Mr. Weigand was retired from Teamsters Local 249. He is survived by his brother, Donald G. Weigand; his in-laws, Raymond and Joann Melder; nieces; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph “Pie” and Mabel Weigand; and his brother, Thomas W. Weigand. Friends were received at Winter Funeral Home, Bloomfield, where services were held on Tuesday. Burial was in Highwood Cemetery.
