Many store windows in Bellevue are now colorfully decorated for Halloween, thanks to the efforts of art students from Northgate High School. Sponsored by Enjoy Bellevue, seasonal scenes were painted on glass throughout the business district. Pictured here, the big front windows of Classic Chevrolet provide the perfect canvas for students (from left) Sarah Denes, Becky Sheerer, Sydney Cousins and Grace Jason. The public can vote for their favorite windows by going to the Enjoy Bellevue Web site at www.enjoybellevue.org.

Ben Avon voters will find a full slate of choices for borough office on the Nov. 3 ballot, and are sure to pick at least one new member of council.

The potential exists for voters to replace up to four members of council and the mayor, although incumbent Lloyd Corder has a head start on the pack by appearing on both the Democratic and Repub-lican ballots. Corder was listed on the GOP ballot in the primary, but picked up enough write-in votes to secure a position on the Democratic ticket as well.

Something about the North Boroughs inspires holiday decorations. Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas, of course, and for some residents, what has become the favorite outlet of their creativity: Halloween.

While almost every area street sports its share of monster inflatables, witches, goblins and lights, Jeff and Mary Marous, who have lived in Avalon for the past eight years, have pumped the art of Halloween decoration to a new level -- sort of an interactive "happening."

Most realtors rank curb appeal near the top of the list of features needed to sell a house. Zero curb appeal -- nearly zero chances of selling the property.

Linda Cumer and husband Bill became exceptions to that rule when they purchased their Emsworth home two years ago.
