Colorful Easter bunnies are popping up in businesses throughout the North Boroughs, a special holiday promotion sponsored by The Citizen and our advertisers. Before any of these bunnies left The Citizen offices, however, they received a sniff of approval from Arthur, our newest staffer. Arthur is a 140 lb. Great Dane who came to us via the PA Great Dane Rescue organization, and he is pretty much an expert on stuffed animals. Pick up this week's issue of The Citizen for details on how you can win one of the bunnies.

The Northgate School Board is expected to vote Monday to ratify one make-up day, and approve a second.

Superintendent Dr. Reggie Bonfield said at the school board's work session on March 8 that he had reconsidered his prior statement that Northgate could apply to the state education department to obtain waivers of the days missed during recent bad weather. Not only did Northgate not want to reduce the amount of time students spend in the classroom, he said, but the state criteria for obtaining waivers is difficult to meet.

Today's the day I've been waiting for. I can hardly wait until my feet hit the floor. My clothes are ready, they're cleaned and pressed. In a few short moments I will be dressed. Down to the kitchen to get something to eat. Should I have cereal, or a breakfast treat? from "Today's the Day! My New Shoes"

Something about the North Boroughs inspires holiday decorations. Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas, of course, and for some residents, what has become the favorite outlet of their creativity: Halloween.

While almost every area street sports its share of monster inflatables, witches, goblins and lights, Jeff and Mary Marous, who have lived in Avalon for the past eight years, have pumped the art of Halloween decoration to a new level -- sort of an interactive "happening."
