Coaches for fall sports were awarded supplemental contracts by the Northgate School Board.

Todd Goble will be the head golf coach, paid $3,533.

Mike Pipak will return as head football coach at a stipend of $6,804. Other football coaches hired include Jeff Smith, first assistant, $4,559., and assistant coaches Dan Sefick, Chris Lucas, Dave Haslett, Jr. and James Durkin, each of whom will be paid $4,083.

Stephanie Francis will be paid $3,558 as the head volleyball coach, with assistant coach Katie Greco paid $2,384.

Three new members were sworn in to seats on Avalon Council last Monday evening, including one who was just recently named the winner of a council seat by what was probably the lowest number of votes ever.

While Jonathan Bernstein and Thomas Lloyd Jr. were on the November ballot along with incumbents Ed Repp and Ralph Cortese, David Dixon was declared the winner of a council seat for which there were no candidates on the ballot. Dixon received four write-in votes, which was enough to beat out incumbent Albert Wurst, who received only three.

Avalon Elementary parking Borough officials and Avalon PTO members have come up with a plan to help ease parking problems created when parents drop-off and pick-up their child-ren at school.

A resolution approved by Avalon Council at its Aug. 18 meeting will allow parents to purchase a parking permit that will let them park in front of the school, between North School Street and North Chestnut Street, from 7:30 until 8:30 a.m. and from 2:30 until 4 p.m. on weekdays.
