Eleanor Dvorsky Eleanor H. Herstich Dvorsky, 82, of Ross Township, wife of the late Joseph A. Dvorsky, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Mrs. Dvorsky retired as a nurse from Suburban General Hospital where she worked for 20 years. She was a member of St. Gabriel Parish and Risen Lord Church.

Avalon Borough will charge less for garbage collection this year, and possibly institute some new collection procedures, after a standing-room-only crowd debated officials for more than an hour and a half at Tuesday's borough council meeting.

The Avalon Police Department’s war on drugs -- and drug dealers -- continued last weekend as officers conducted surveillance and netted 30 stamp bags of heroin and one suspected drug dealer.

Police say they observed a drug transaction at the corner of Orchard and Cleveland avenues on Saturday, Dec. 4. Layton Burks, 21, of Florence Avenue, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, delivery of 10 stamp bags of heroin, resisting arrest and possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

Copper pipes were reported torn out of the basement and kitchen of a home on Cleveland Avenue. The burglary and theft were reported to Avalon Police on Oct. 11.

Two vehicles on Jackman Avenue were found vandalized on Oct. 12. The passenger side doors on one car were kicked in, police say, while the other car sustained scratch marks to the roof.

Aluminum gutters were reported stolen from a California Avenue home on March 11.

Vehicle break-ins were discovered on California Avenue on March 15 and on Cleveland Avenue on March 16. An attempted vehicle break-in was reported on Orchard Avenue on March 16. A navigation system and other items were reported stolen from the vehicle on Cleveland Avenue.

Amy Lynn Morgan, 35, of the North Side, was charged with criminal trespass at an ohio River Boulevard business on March 17.

Work to stabilize the Route 65 landslide site will continue this year.

Kilbuck Township Supervisors voted Tuesday to issue a grading permit for 2010 to Cleveland Construction. Engineer Rob Arnold said that the contractor will continue Phase 3 work from 2009, and later this year may apply for another grading permit in order to launch Phase 4.

A vehicle was reported stolen from Cleveland Avenue on Jan. 17. The keys also were taken, from inside the house, and police have identified a suspect.

Derron Patterson, 34, of Jackman Avenue, was cited for disorderly conduct on Jan. 15 after he was reportedly found with a small amount of suspected marijuana outside his home.

Paris Lundy, 22, of McKeesport, was charged with criminal mischief on Jan. 15 after police were called to a disturbance on Taylor Avenue and were told that Lundy had kicked in the door of a home during an argument with another male.

Koenig; six children, Laura Arcan and her husband Metin, Bob Faulkner, Tom Faulkner and his wife Debbie, Brian Faulkner and his wife Jill, Eric Faulkner and his wife Stacy and Alice Mack and her husband Ken; two siblings, Ralph Earl and Audrey Karr; 12 grandchildren, Bobby, Brandi, Ben, Amanda, Jeremiah, Brian Jr., Connor, Trevor, Peyton, Katelyn, Jeremy and Kenny; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Faulkner.

Kathleen Snyder Kathleen E. Snyder died Wednesday, June 10, 2009. She is survived by her goddaughter, Kathleen Starkey Cooley and her husband Timothy and their children, Allison and Jordan Cooley; her cousin, Jefferson Starkey and his wife Shannon and godchildren Shawn and Aleisha Starkey. She was preceded in death by her mother, Catherine Miller Snyder; her uncle, Louis Miller; and her cousin, Judith Mulder. Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in Risen Lord Church on Saturday.
