Ann Deckenbach Ann L. Erdner Deckenbach, 93, of Oakmont, formerly of Avalon and wife of the late Charles Deckenbach, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Paula "P.J." Bombara; three sisters, Margaret Diroll, Sophia Pike and Dorothy Delp; and her granddaughter, Alecia M. Bombara. She was preceded in death by six siblings, Edith Munk, Mary Backe, Paul, Joseph, John and Edward Erdner. Friends were received at Burket-Truby Funeral Home, Oakmont, where services were held.

Betty Jane Titler Betty Jane Sharpnack Stevenson Titler, 86, of Avalon, formerly of Brownsville and Youngstown and wife of the late Eugene Stevenson and Guy Titler, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010. Mrs. Titler was a registered nurse, taking care of veterans of World War II. She then worked in Ohio and at Bellevue Suburban General Hospital in the neonatal unit. She enjoyed reading, playing the slot machines and watching soap operas.

Helen Rooney Helen V. "Vonnie" Rooney, 95, of Elmira, NY, formerly of Pittsburgh and wife of the late Paul Rooney, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010. Mrs. Rooney had been a longtime member of Annunciation Church and past president of its Christian Mothers Association. She enjoyed bowling and her card clubs. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook.

Dale Heffley Dale D. Heffley, 65, of Ross Township, formerly of Avalon, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Peg" Heffley; his daughter, Catherine Oliverio and her husband Bill; two grandchildren, Salvatore "Sal" and Catherine "Katie" Oliverio; his sister-in-law, Nancy Bevan; his brother-in-law, John Wedlock and his wife Pat; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Catherine Heffley; and two brothers, James Heffley and Dee Carrick.

Mary M. Carte Mary M. Carte, 73 of Steubenville, OH, died Saturday, April 3, 2010 in Weirton Medical Center. Mrs. Carte was born on Aug. 19, 1936 in Emsworth. She was retired from Suburban General Hospital in as a nurse. She was Catholic by faith, and was a volunteer for the United Way and Red Cross. She was past president of the Women’s Club, and enjoyed reading, line dancing and bowling.

Gabriele Arlia Gabriele Arlia, 81, of Bellevue, husband of the late Michelina Arlia, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010. He is survived by his son, Gennaro P. “Jerry” Arlia and his wife Mary Lou of Bellevue; his sister, Angela Arlia and her husband Antonio; five grandchildren, Andrea and Lona Arlia, Eric Havel and his wife Becky, Courtney Havel and Dana Kablack; four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Madilynn, Seth and Jayden; two nephews, Joseph Arlia and his wife Anne Marie and Nick Arlia and his wife Angela; and two grandnieces, Maria and Julia Arlia.

Lynne Nicotero Lynne M. Nicotero, 65, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010. Mrs. Nicotero worked with the mentally and physically challenged for many years. She is survived by her husband, Ross V. Nicotero II; four children, Julie Sansotta and her husband Gary of Port Royal, SC, Ross Nicotero III and his wife April of Ross Township, Peter Nicotero and his wife Colleen of Spring Hill and Jessica Siwicki and her husband Jeremy of Sandy Lake, PA; and five grandchildren, Sarah, Dominique, Kaylee, Jeremy and Julian. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Pasquale.

Patricia Synan Patricia Ann “Patti” Synan of West View died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009. Mrs. Synan was the owner and operator of Patti's Styling Salon in Bellevue. She was a professional hair stylist in various salons in the North Hills for more than 20 years before opening her own salon in 1989. She enjoyed cruises with family members and dinners with friends.

Walter Beals Walter Beals, 67, of Ross Township, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009. Mr. Beals was a graduate of Bellaire High School and Duquesne University. He taught in the Pittsburgh Public School District for more than 30 years. During retirement, he enjoyed painting, sculpting, gardening and golf, tennis and bowling. He is survived by two children, Suzi Shaw and Steven Patton; and his sister, Tamara Pinarich. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Voynick.

Irene Bickel Irene Bickel 93, of Bellevue, wife of the late Bill Bickel, died Monday, July 27, 2009 in Vincentian Regency Nursing Home. Mrs. Bickel worked as a bookkeeper and secretary. She enjoyed the musical community, bowling, bingo, crossword puzzles, reading and needlepoint.

She is survived by her husband, Wenzel Lang; three sons, Richard Lang of Bellevue, Russell Lang and his wife Carol of Squirrel Hill and Mark Lang and his wife Kim of Atlanta, GA; her sister, Lois Logue Thomas; two grandsons, Matthew and his wife Jessica of Ann Arbor, MI and Brian of Pittsburgh; and a great-grandchild, Callum of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary Logue; and three siblings, Thomas, James and Vera Logue.
