Students introduced to the music of the harp

In an era when blaring guitars, pounding drums and bizarre videos rule the musical worlds of teen audiences, many people would have been surprised to find well over 100 Avonworth middle and high school students seated on a stage floor, spellbound at the playing of two young ladies who expanded their listeners’ cultural tastes to appreciate the sounds of a harp.

John Gregor John T. Gregor, 87, of Pittsburgh, husband of the late Gertrude Gregor, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2010 in Toledo, OH. Mr. Gregor was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, having served as a machine gun operator. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Bellevue Council #1400. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Barbara Mitchell; four siblings, George and Paul Gregor, both of Pittsburgh, Josephine Caughhorn of Toledo and Ann Bamiller of Chicago, IL; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Gregor.

Donna Flory Donna M. Talak Flory died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Loose and her husband Alex of Conneautville, PA; her father, Jack Talak; three siblings, Darlene Radzanowski, David and Dennis Talak; and two grandchildren, Chole A. and Dante S. Loose. She was preceded in death by her mother, R.M. Geraldine White Talak; and her brother, Daniel Talak. A memorial mass was held in Risen Lord Church on Wednesday.
