Dominic Angeloini Dominic A. Angeloini, 80, of the North Side, husband of the late Catherine M. Angeloini, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011. He is survived by three daughters, Angie and her husband Todd, Patty and her husband Brian and Toni and her husband Jack; his sister, Philomena; six grandchildren, Christina, Brandon, Nicole, Ashley, Zackery and Miranda; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and J.T.; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and his dog, Ginger. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Angeloini; and two siblings, Art Angeloini and Betty McBurney.

Everything has a purpose

Members of avonworth High School’s Honor Society would have preferred wearing the clothing articles they were packing rather than readying them for distribution to Third World countries serviced by the international charity World Vision. But the mountains of shirts proclaiming Pittsburgh as winners of Super Bowl XLV will never be worn by diehard “ if only” fans or become eBay curiosity items.

From the vine, to the basement, to the bottle

There's not much of a problem in picking up a bottle of wine these days. Stop at a wine and spirits shop (no longer called a liquor store) or maybe at one of a growing number of grocery stores offering hundreds of selections of chardonnay, cabernet or merlot to sip with dinner.

Easy, but not quite Jesse Colaizzi's idea of the best way to enjoy the fruit of the vine.

Ohio Township man named to international council

An Ohio Township man has been named as the North American representative to an international council focused on Carpatho-Rusyn culture.

John J. Righetti was elected to the North American seat of the World Council of Rusyns, the coordinating body for Carpatho-Rusyn cultural activity internationally.

He was elected at the 10th World Congress of Rusyns held in Ruski Kerestur, Serbia, in June.

Students compete in "Project Polar Bear"

While politicians and television personalities dither about what to do to protect the environment and some argue if global warming even exists, two Avonworth High School students have taken on a pro-ject that addresses the perils of the planet, with special emphasis on the plight of polar bears.
