Pauline Kent Pauline Pence Kent, 94, of Emsworth, wife of the late Harold E. Kent, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.

Police recovered 20 stamp bags of suspected heroin during a traffic stop in the area of California and Home avenues on Nov. 5.

Amanda Veneziale, 22, of North Home Avenue, was charged after the suspected narcotics were found on the passenger seat she had occupied.

The owner of a South Birmingham Avenue apartment building called police on Nov. 8 when he discovered two syringes and an empty stamp bag of heroin in the back yard.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Avonworth Antelopes football team is headed to the WPIAL quarterfinals. The ‘Lopes defeated California at home last Friday, 28-16.

Led by Ricky Lawniczak's three rushing touchdowns, the Antelopes broke open a close game in the second half and took advantage of a couple of Trojan turnovers that were converted for scores. They will now meet Rochester at Ambridge High School tonight at 7:30 p.m.

"I'm happy we're moving on," said head coach Duke Johncour after the game.

Nancy Moore Nancy F. Forsyth Moore, 78, of Bermuda Dunes, CA, formerly of Bellevue, died Saturday, July 23, 2011. Mrs. Moore was a 1950 graduate of Bellevue High School and a 1954 graduate of Grove City College. She worked at U.S. Steel as an executive secretary. She enjoyed books and libraries and worked as a volunteer, most recently at Palm Desert Library and McCallum Theater.

Joann Johnson Joann A. Kaib Johnson, 65, of Glenfield and Ohio Township, died Tuesday, May 17, 2011. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed coloring, Bingo and trips to the casino.

She is survived by two daughters, Melissa Slepski and her husband Thomas Streiff and Shannon Slepski; two brothers, Charles D. Woods and his wife Marylyn and Ronald J. Greenstone United Methodist Church, 939 California Ave., in Avalon, will be serving a Shrove Tuesday pancake and sausage supper on Tuesday, March 8, 5-7 p.m.

The price is $4 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12, and free for children under 6. Tickets will be available at the door.

An “all-you-can-eat” pancake breakfast will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, 8 - 10 a.m. at Greenstone United Methodist Church, 939 California Ave., Avalon.

Pauline Klasterka Pauline R. Yankovic Klasterka, 88, of Ross Township, wife of the late Frank E. Klasterka, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011. She is survived by two children, Joane Lapsley and her husband David and Frank L. Klasterka and his wife Lisa; her sister, Anna Marie Zacharias; three grandchildren, Bill Lapsley, Frank and Katelyn Klasterka; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Miller and Eleanor Hirsch.
