William Kisling Sr. William R. Kisling Sr., 78, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, June 29 2011. Mr. Kisling was a longtime member of Northgate Church. He was an avid sportsman and outsdoorsman. He is survived by his wife, Nancy M. Kisling; four sons, John R. Kisling and his wife Jean, Thomas W. Kisling and his wife Toni, William R. Kisling Jr. and Ty Kisling; two sisters, Irene Roof and her husband Jack and Virginia Klimko and her husband Edward; and five grandchildren, Kelly, Brian, Zachary, Justin and Tyler Kisling.

A Bellevue man was taken to the Allegheny County Jail on Feb. 5 after, police say, he severely beat a woman inside a car parked at 50 Sumner Ave. A child also was in the car, police say. Charles Moore was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of a child.

Some 23 auto transmissions were reported stolen from an Ohio River Boulevard business on Feb. 3.

A South Euclid Avenue homeowner returned home Jan. 28 to find the house had been burglarized.

A burglary was reported at a Farragut Avenue property on Feb. 13.

Avalon Police are continuing to investigate a pursuit Tuesday night that ended when a vehicle crashed into a pole in Ben Avon.

Police say that an officer attempted to pull over a speeding vehicle on Route 65 in Avalon, near the Ben Avon border. The driver refused to stop until his vehicle hit a utility pole a couple blocks later. Police say the driver had a DUI-related suspended license and is suspected of being intoxicated. He refused a blood test after he was taken to the hospital, police say.

A couple police say are homeless have taken up residence in the Allegheny County Jail after repeated domestic disturbances on Dec. 30 led to a foot pursuit, a Tazing, and the apprehension of both people.

A McKees Rocks woman was arrested Dec. 26 after admittedly stabbing her 24-year-old son in his Bellevue apartment.

The Avalon Police Department’s war on drugs -- and drug dealers -- continued last weekend as officers conducted surveillance and netted 30 stamp bags of heroin and one suspected drug dealer.

Police say they observed a drug transaction at the corner of Orchard and Cleveland avenues on Saturday, Dec. 4. Layton Burks, 21, of Florence Avenue, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, delivery of 10 stamp bags of heroin, resisting arrest and possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail.

A Malvern Road man picked a bad time to step outside his house to smoke a joint. Police were at the house next door on Nov. 29 when they say they observed Gregory Lee, 42, step out his back door and light up. They smelled marijuana, and charged Lee with disorderly conduct. He was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant as well.

Jesse Lee Richard, 25, of Fisk Avenue, was picked up on an outstanding warrant on Dec. 2.

A Union Avenue resident reported Nov. 27 that eggs had been thrown at her home.

A Bellevue man was scheduled for a preliminary hearing yesterday after being arrested in connection with a shooting in Wilkinsburg.

David Hickman, 50, of Washington Avenue, was taken into custody June 12 by Bellevue Police. He was being held in the Allegheny County Jail on a $50,000 bond after being charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats.

An 8-year-old boy was injured after being struck by a vehicle on California Avenue on March 30. Witnesses said the boy ran out in front of a vehicle traveling east on california, toward Bellevue. NorthWest EMS was called to treat the boy, who, according to police, had a cut on his head.

A Center Avenue resident reported March 26 that several items had been stolen from a vehicle parked on that street.

A Pittsburgh man exemplified the adage about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thomas Chieffalo Jr., 41, happened to be pulling out of the BP station on Route 65 just as police arrived in response to a hold-up alarm, which turned out to have been accidentally set off by an employee. Police, however, stopped Chieffalo’s vehicle, and discovered that he was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant. Chieffalo went to the Allegheny County Jail, and his vehicle was towed, following the March 23 incident.

A North Birmingham Avenue resident told police he was robbed at gunpoint at the ATM machine on California Avenue on Dec. 11. The man, who did not report the robbery until the next day, said that he had just withdrawn cash when he was approached from behind by a male who put a gun to his head and demanded the money. The robber was described as a light-skinned black male wearing a white hoodie and carrying a black semi-automatic gun.
