Sophia Regas Sophia Fakles Regas, 89, wife of the late John Fakles and John Regas, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011. Mrs. Regas was the owner of the River Road Inn in Avalon for 39 years. She is survived by two daughters, Theodora Fakles and Pandora Bossick and her husband Dennis; her sister-in-law, Shea Banus; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Panagula Danus; and two siblings, Demetrios Danus and Maria Giannakos.

James R. Davis James R. Davis, 68, of McCandless, husband of the late Carol S. Davis, died Nov. 4, 2011. Mr. Davis had been the owner of Jim Davis Auto Body in Emsworth. He leaves a son, James S. Davis and his fiancé Sharon Welfer; a sister, Linda (John) Provich; a niece, Melissa (Mike) Taylor; nephews, Joseph Weiss Jr. and James (Jamie) Weiss. Friends were received Tuesday at Simons Funeral Home and a service was held Wednesday in St. John's Lutheran Church of Highland. Rev. James Forrest Rev. James A. Forrest, 87, of Avalon, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011. Rev. Forrest was a member of the Anglican Church of North America. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Forrest; four children, Robert, Gillian, Jonathan and Jennifer; his sister, Nancy Forrest Burkholder; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Helen Schmalzl Helen Herzlieb Schmalzl, 90, of Avalon, wife of the late Albert Schmalzl, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Mrs. Schmalzl was a member of the Church of the Assumption Christian Mothers and an active member of the Sewickley YMCA. She is survived by three children, Helen Schmalzl, William Schmalzl and his wife Patricia and Richard Schmalzl and his wife Mary; and six grandchildren, Greg, Max, Alex, Evelyn, Will and Ellie. She was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Herzlieb.

Joseph Barshowski Joseph Barshowski of Pittsburgh, husband of the late Mary Ann Barshowski, died Saturday, July 30, 2011. He is survived by his brother, David Barshowski and his wide Orysia; a nephew, Donald; and a niece, Nancy. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva; and five siblings, Michael, Stephania, Alexander, Frank and John. Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. Nancy Moore Nancy F. Forsyth Moore, 78, of Bermuda Dunes, CA, formerly of Bellevue, died Saturday, July 23, 2011. Mrs. Moore was a 1950 graduate of Bellevue High School and a 1954 graduate of Grove City College. She worked at U.S. Steel as an executive secretary. She enjoyed books and libraries and worked as a volunteer, most recently at Palm Desert Library and McCallum Theater.

Edward Moore Edward McClelland Moore, 94, of Bellevue, husband of the late Dawn (Mary Ellen) Moore, died Thursday, July 14, 2011. He is survived by six children, Joseph Moore and his wife Joanne, Charlene Amend and her husband Dennis, Daniel Moore, Thomas Moore and his wife June, Patricia Hallam and her husband Patrick and Mary Ellen McDonough and her husband Daniel; 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren; his daughter-in-lae Elvira Moore. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence E. Moore.

Eleanor Dvorsky Eleanor H. Herstich Dvorsky, 82, of Ross Township, wife of the late Joseph A. Dvorsky, died Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Mrs. Dvorsky retired as a nurse from Suburban General Hospital where she worked for 20 years. She was a member of St. Gabriel Parish and Risen Lord Church.

Willard Mecklenburg Willard M. Mecklenburg, 86, of Avalon, husband of the late Barbara Gavin Mecklenburg, died Thursday, June 16, 2011. Mr. Mecklenburg was retired from Duquesne University where he was an associate professor of journalism. He served on Avalon Council 1976-79. He was a member of Avalon-Bellevue Kiwanis Club.

Raymond Seekford Raymond Seekford, 69, of Emsworth, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011. Mr. Seekford was retired and a member of Iron Workers Local #3 for 43 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Korea.

Ann Deckenbach Ann L. Erdner Deckenbach, 93, of Oakmont, formerly of Avalon and wife of the late Charles Deckenbach, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011. She is survived by her daughter, Paula "P.J." Bombara; three sisters, Margaret Diroll, Sophia Pike and Dorothy Delp; and her granddaughter, Alecia M. Bombara. She was preceded in death by six siblings, Edith Munk, Mary Backe, Paul, Joseph, John and Edward Erdner. Friends were received at Burket-Truby Funeral Home, Oakmont, where services were held.

She is survived by two children, Joane Lapsley and her husband David and Frank L. Klasterka and his wife Lisa; her sister, Anna Marie Zacharias; three grandchildren, Bill Lapsley, Frank and Katelyn Klasterka; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosemary Miller and Eleanor Hirsch.

She is survived by four children, Barbara Hyde, Joanne Hyde, Andrew Golden and his wife Kathleen and Maureen Golden; four grandchildren, Jeff, Sherry, Jay and Afton; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Eva Andrews. Services and burial were private. Memorial contributions are suggested to Forbes Hospice. Helen Rooney Helen V. "Vonnie" Rooney, 95, of Elmira, NY, formerly of Pittsburgh and wife of the late Paul Rooney, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010. Mrs. Rooney had been a longtime member of Annunciation Church and past president of its Christian Mothers Association. She enjoyed bowling and her card clubs. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook.

Gray of Melbourne, FL; two siblings, Helen Guiser and Bill Euston; her grandson, Matthew D. Gray; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Meals.

Louise Griffith Louise Rose Conte Griffith, 83, of Newton, MA, formerly of Monongahela and wife of the late Blair A. Griffith, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010. Mrs. Griffith was a 1945 graduate of Monongahela High School and a 1949 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in journalism. She worked at West Penn Power in the public relations department, then taught for 20 years in the Franklin Regional School District. She enjoyed politics, sports, reading and crossword puzzles.

Lawrence Conte Lawrence A. Conte, 94, of Bellevue, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2010. He is survived by his wife, Betty Conte; two sisters, Anne and Angela; and nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held in North Hills Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Saturday. Arrangements were made by the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon.
