Demolition of the former location of the Ponderosa Steakhouse on Ohio River Boulevard in Avalon started last week and picked up speed earlier this week. The building was removed to make way for a Burger King restaurant, which was good news for those who have missed the eatery since it left Bellevue several years ago. According to Keith Egyed of PEC Management, a Burger King franchisee, construction of the new restaurant should be complete and the business open to diners by early to mid September. The restaurant expects to create about 45 new jobs in the area, Egyed said.
