By late fall, Classic Chevrolet in Bellevue will be offering area residents the opportunity to drive -- and buy -- the new Chevy Volt, a completely electric vehicle named “Car of the Year” for 2011 by Motortrend magazine. Unlike hybrid vehicles currently on the market, the Volt can operate completely on electricity. According to Eric Steigel of GM training, who (pictured above at right) introduced the car to Classic sales manager Bill Frazier (at left), it costs about $1.50 to fully charge the car, which then can travel 20-40 miles depending on what devices are being used (heat, air conditioning, etc.) The car recharges in about 10 hours on a 120-volt electrical line, or in as little as four hours on a dedicated 240 line. Frazier said that a fully-loaded model should be in the Classic showroom by November, and will retail for about $41,000.
