A few (billion) raindrops didn’t put a damper on volunteer efforts as Avalon’s annual “Dumpster Day” took place last Saturday. Dumpsters were filled to the brim with items that might otherwise be cluttering homes and yards around the borough. Pictured above, volunteers included elected officials, community residents and Northgate Middle-Senior High School students. The students worked with Northgate teacher and former Avalon Council member Tom Michalow to pick up items from borough residents who are elderly or disabled, and unable to transport them. Although soaked to the skin, the students kept at their task and recuperated with pizza at the end of the day.
