Greenstone United Methodist Church on California Avenue in Avalon will celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a chili dinner on Wednesday, May 5, from 5-7 p.m.

Cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children, ages 5 and younger eat for free. Second helpings cost $2.

The menu will include beef chili, chicken chili, vegetarian chili, rice, bread and dessert. Take out orders available.

The group organizing this year’s Independence Day Fireworks Celebration in the North Bor-oughs will meet on Thursday, April 29.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Avalon municipal building, 640 California Ave.

Any resident of the North Boroughs interested in getting involved is invited to attend.

Avalon Library is selling raffle tickets for a “Gardening Basket.” The raffle will be held at the Apple Blossom Festival on May 8, when the library also will hold a book and bake sale in front of the borough building from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
