Greenstone Strawberry Festival

Greenstone Methodist Church in Avalon will hold its annual Strawberry festival on Friday and Saturday, June 11 and 12.

The festival will feature a variety of events from 5 until 9 p.m. on Friday, and from 11 a,m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday.

A spaghetti dinner will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, and a roastbeef dinner 4-6 p.m. on Saturday.

WTAE news anchor Sally Anchor will be at the festival 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. There will be musical entertainment both days, as well as crafts, games, an inflatable, and a strawberry pie eating contest at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The seventh annual J & J carnival to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital will be held Sunday, June 6, 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Bellevue.

Avonworth Memorial Day parade, service planned

The 64th annual Avonworth community Memorial Day parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 31, with a few changes this year to accommodate weight restrictions placed on the Center Avenue bridge.

Log House Open Dates

The Ben Avon Area Historical Association has announced the dates this summer when the Dickson Log House on Atlantic Avenue will be open:

Monday, May 31, 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.; Saturday, June 26, 10 a.m. - noon; Sunday, July 25, noon - 2 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 28, 10 a.m. - noon.
