Welcome home

I don't know who developed the idea of holding school homecomings -- probably some college fund-raising officer -- but it's a great idea that probably needs to broaden its application.

We live in an area where it is common to find several generations of a single family living within walking distance of each other; where grandparents help raise their children's children, and grandchildren return the favor. It makes for a strong foundation.

There are always those family members, however, who move away, find their callings in places across the country and around the world. But they still seem compelled to reach out every now and then and touch their roots.

One of the most exciting things to come from this Web site is news of how it has brought far-away former residents a little closer to home. We frequently hear how they are reconnecting with their hometowns via this site, and how local residents are reaching out via the site to connect with family across the globe.

So, for all who take The Citizen global, welcome to our family, and welcome home. Let us hear from you!
