Sometimes things happen in the course of gathering news that defy our best efforts to shape them into a news story.
They are, however, noteworthy in that they do include some information that could be relevant to our readers.
That's where blogs come in.
Two such noteworthy occurences were part of Bellevue Council's workshop meeting on Tuesday.
First, new solicitor Tom McDermott showed signs of whipping Bellevue into legal shape. The oft-amended administrative code was examined in considerable detail by McDermott, who recommended a number of changes to keep the ordinance adoption portion of the code from unnecessarily conflicting, confusing and/or complicating.
This is exactly the guidance that Bellevue officials need. Now if someone had just given him a copy of the latest amendment so that it could have been incorporated...
The second occurrence involved a level of astonishment that was rare even for Bellevue Council meetings.
Let me set the stage: Linda Woshner was chairing the meeting in the absence of council president Kathy Coder. Council member Mark Helbling had the floor, and was commenting on some subject or another. In the background, in this acoustically-challenged room, there was another voice. It was coming from council member Lisa Blaney-Stewart.
Woshner, as chair, simply said "Lisa" in an attempt to maintain order and give Helbling's comments the proper attention and respect.
Blaney-Stewart's response?
Wait for this...
She stuck her tongue out at Woshner.
What else is there to say?
