Avonworth football star running back Jimmy Zubik has committed to play next year for Mount Union college in Alliance, OH.

Zubik, who was named all-state, all-conference and all-district, rushed for 1,319 yards and scored 19 touchdowns for the Antelopes last season.

Mount Union is an NCAA Division III school that went 14-1 last year, winning its 18th consecutive Ohio Athletic Conference champion-ship and advancing to the Stagg Bowl national championship game for the fifth consecutive time. The Purple Raiders have won 10 national championships under head coach Larry Kehres, who will begin his 25th season with a 289-22-3 record.

Zubik is the son of Carolyn and Jim Zubik of Ohio Township.
