Another week has gone by in which the Avonworth/Northgate track team has performed well but come up a bit short of a victory.
On the boys' team there were many individual performances that scored points for the team in a dual meet.
Josh Douglass placed second in the 110 meter hurdles, triple jump and long jump, and first in the discus. Patrick Parra placed third in the 110 meter hurdles and first in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles.
Tony Bevon placed first in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Mackenzie Grey finished in second in the 200 meter dash. Aaron Makatura finished third in the 1600 meter run.
Ryan Schmid placed second in the 400 meter dash, and Houston Hunt finished in third. Justin Parra finished in second in the 300 intermediate hurdles. Nick Work finished second in the 800 meter run, followed by Jimmy Silay in third. Shaquil Knight finished in third in the 200 meter dash. Justin Day finished second in the javelin, while Sean Armstrong finished third in the discus.
The boys' 1600 meter relay of Schmid, Scott Beatty, Hunt and Elliot Miller finished first, in addition to the 400 meter relay of Nick Calloway, D.J. D'Amico, Tony Bevon and Grey.
Overall, however, the boys' team lost 81-60.
The girls' team had plenty of individual success as well.
Amy Haller finished third in the discus. Kendra Anick finished in third in the javelin. Deanna Douglass finished second in the long. Mikell Schlumpf finished first in the 100 meter hurdles.
Samiya Ferguson finished in second in the 100 meter dash. Bridgit Walters finished first in both the 1600 meter run and the 3200 meter run. Rachel Schenk finished first in the 800 meter run. Samantha DiCaprio finished first in the 200 meter dash.
Kaylina Polito finished second in the shot put, followed by Jennifer McKee in third.
Overall, the girls' team lost 104-37.
Besides the dual meet, the team also took part in the Butler Invitational. After a long rain delay, the team was able to bring home a few medals. Josh Douglass finished seventh in the 110 meter hurdles, sixth in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump. Patrick Parra placed seventh in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles. Mikell Schlumpf finished in fourth in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles.
