The Avonworth School Board held its annual reorganization meeting on Dec. 5. At that meeting, the five recently elected school board members - David Oberdick, Robert Wible, Jeff Carraway, Peter McKay, and Brenda Barlek, were sworn in.
In addition, the board voted to return David Oberdick to his former position as president. Brenda Barlek, the president during 2011, resumed her prior position of vice president.
Carraway and Wible volunteered to represent Avonworth on the A.W. Beattie Career Center board, replacing former board members Lynn Evans and Marybeth Sommers. Oberdick announced at the meeting that he would defer the reorganization of the board's committees until the January meeting.
Newly elected members of the Northgate School Board sworn in Monday evening were Gary Palladin, Dr. Shannon Smithey, Dan O’Keefe, Brigitte Jackson and Dr. Tim Makatura. O’Keefe was elected board president at last Monday’s reorganization meeting, with Makatura selected to serve as vice president. The board unanimously approved resolutions honoring departing board members Susan Nolan and David Natale. A vacancy in a two-year board seat is expected to be filled next Monday.
