Both the girls' and the boys' Northgate-Avonworth swim teams defeated Freeport easily, competing at a high level and qualifying for the WPIALs in four different events.
On the boys' team, Jimmy Silay qualified in the 100 yard freestyle and the 200 yard individual medley, to make this his sixth qualification of the season.
On the girls' side, Annie Gould set another school record while qualifying for her second event of the season in the 200 yard freestyle.
In addition, the girls' 200 freestyle relay team -- consisting of Amanda Silay, Bridgit Walters, Amanda Stone and Gould -- qualified for the WPIAL championships.
After defeating Freeport, the teams were ready for their meet against Brentwood. The girls' team ended up winning 93-76, while the boys' team lost 83-79. However, there were three more WPIAL qualifying swims at this meet. The 200 yard medley relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay teams -- consisting of Gould, A. Silay, Walters and Stone -- qualified, and J. Silay qualified in the 100 yard butterfly.
