Sales help

Avalon Borough will delay requiring stormwater remediation measures at one of the borough’s large apartment buildings in hopes that a sale of the building will go through.

An attorney representing the family that owns the Avalon Arms said that the family would create an escrow account of up to $125,000 to cover the cost of removing stormwater run-off from the borough’s sanitary sewer system. Due to the building’s size and location, it is not possible simply to direct stormwater onto nearby streets or property, and a more complex and costly solution will be required. That solution will take time, however, during which a pending sales agreement may fall through.

Council voted Tuesday to allow the sale to go through as long as the escrow account was created.
