The Northgate School Board may be taking a look at restructuring the district's elementary schools, a step the board has been told is necessary if Northgate ever needs to change the elementary school set-up to reduce costs.
A restructuring of the schools could include a merger or consolidation of the facilities.
At the Aug. 9 committee of the whole meeting, board member Marita Bartholomew said that she was concerned about the district being prepared if restructuring or merger is necessary. Superintendent Dr. Reggie Bonfield said that the process is a slow one, and must be conducted through the state department of education.
Board President Susan Nolan suggested forming an ad hoc committee to research this topic and to look at the enrollment numbers.
