Ben Avon Council took the initial steps at Tuesday's meeting to begin construction on upper Perrysville Avenue, which will include such work as tearing up the curbs and doing resurfacing.

Council first unanimously approved a motion to have borough engineer Ed McGee draw up specifications for the project, and then to advertise for bids.

Council then approved a motion to waive the permit fee and charge West View Water a fixed sum of $3,500 to cover miscellaneous items, such as the time of McGee, public works foreman Dale Regrut, and the police, to re-route traffic. The plan is for West View Water first to put in a new water line and a temporary cover, and Ben Avon will follow with the permanent work.
