Park security

Cameras will be installed in both Emsworth parks in an effort to stop vandalism.

Council voted unanimously Wednesday to spend $4,200 to have four cameras installed in the parks. Not only was the bid by Markowitz Electric lower than two others, reported council member Tom Madey, but the company also will include a one-year service agreement in the price.

The company previously had installed a security system at the public works garage, Madey said.

Ohio Township Police Chief Beaver Micklos said that installing cameras at parks in other communities had been successful in apprehending vandals.

"It makes all the difference in the world," he told council.
