Bellevue Council at its regular meeting on May 5, approved two ordinances.
The first was a “Knox Box Ordinance” that requires certain structures to have a key lock box installed on the exterior of the building for fire safety purposes.
Council member Jane Braunlich made a motion to table the ordinance that was seconded by Mark Helbling. Council member Lisa Blaney-Stewart asked what would need changed in the ordinance so that council could vote on it next month. Mayor George Doscher explained that Braunlich wanted to table the motion in order to give the public more time to review the ordinance.
Braunlich's motion to table the ordinance was defeated by a vote of 7-3, with Braunlich, Helbling and Linda Woshner voting to table.
A motion then was made to approve the ordinance, which was adopted by a vote of 8-1, with Braunlich opposed.
The second ordinance was to adopt a portion of Florence Avenue as a public road to be designated as Florence Avenue Extension, which was passed by a vote of 7-2 with Braunlich and Woshner opposed.
