Emsworth Borough Council has cleared the way for another bar to open up shop in Emsworth.

Council unanimously authorized, at its regular meeting on June 11, the transfer of a liquor license to Gennaro's Cafe, Inc. at 8070 Ohio River Blvd. The license will be coming from an bar in McKeesport, according to borough solicitor Mike Marmo.

A public hearing was held prior to the council meeting for residents to voice their concerns over the transfer. There were no comments from the public.

Council authorization was needed because the new license exceeds the state-determined quota of two.

Council members Amy Adams, David Heflin and Rob Bennet were absent.
