A few new faces were present at Emsworth Council's 2010 reorganization meeting Jan. 4 to take the oath as newly elected government officials.
Former longtime borough solicitor Mike Marmo, now a judge on the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, swore in newly-elected mayor Dee Quinn, incumbent council members Amy Adams and Paul Getz, and new members Dan Lenz and Kenneth Kroen.

The new council’s first act was to keep the status quo for the president of council.

A motion made by council member Connie Taylor for Maria West to retain the presidency was unanimously approved by the rest of council.

Council voted to make Getz the vice president in a 5-2 vote, with council members David Heflin and Lenz opposed.

In other business that night, a number of appointments were made:

The borough solicitor will continue to be Robert L. McTiernan, of Tucker Arensberg Attorneys.

Cathy Jones will remain the borough secretary, and the treasurer will be Rebecca McNeil.

Gateway Engineers will remain the borough engineers for 2010.

Emsworth's representatives to the Allegheny County Boroughs Association will be Heflin as the delegate, and Quinn as the alternate.

The newspaper of record for Emsworth will be The Citizen.

PNC Bank was appointed the municipal depository for the borough's general fund, and both Citizens and Fidelity banks were appointed for special funds.

Council's regular meetings will remain the same, scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
