Elizabeth A. "Betty" McFarlane, 84, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011.
Mrs. McFarlane was a school crossing guard in Bellevue for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Richard J. McFarlane; three children, Richard J. McFarlane Jr. and his wife Chris, Patricia Brelloch and her husband Rick and Kathy Weifenbach and her husband Lee; three granddaughters, Kelly Harshman and her husband James, Colleen McFarlane and Megan Brelloch; and two great-grandsons, Elija and Isaiah Harshman.
There was no visitation and burial was private. Arrangements were made by the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon.
Catherine B. Birsic Persic, 91, of Bellevue, wife of the late Carl F. Persic, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011.
Mrs. Persic was a member of CDA Court Bellevue for 50 years and a member of the Christian Mothers of the Church of the Assumption. She was a lifetime member of Croatian Fraternal Union of America Lodge #0706 Pittsburgh.
She is survived by three children, Carl A. Persic and his wife Jan, Mary Lou Persic Smiddle and her husband David and Paul R. Persic and his wife Rhonda; her sister, Helen Unger; and seven grandchildren, Matthew and Mark Persic, Christy and Cindy Smiddle, Paul, Christopher and Jonathan Persic. She was preceded in death by three siblings, John Birsic, Agnes Svoboda and Mary Kosak.

June M. Schneider, 80, of Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople, formerly of Avalon, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011.
Ms. Schneider was retired from Kaufmann's department store, where she was a sales clerk. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church Women, Kaufmann Oasis, Northgate AARP #2736 and AARP #1465. Most recently, she was a member of Seaman Lutheran Church in Zelienople. She enjoyed singing in many church choirs during her lifetime.
She is survived by Jim Eberle, Mimi Marko-Eberle, Megan and Marc Eberle; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles W. and Mollie M. Schneider.

Robert M. Sever, 75, of Bellevue, husband of the late Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Murphy Sever, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011.
He is survived by three children, Dianne Marie Sever, Robert J. Sever and his wife Lori and Jeanette Bartholomew and her husband Thomas; and two grandsons, Thomas J. Sever III and Declan Patrick Bartholomew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael N. and Josephine DelVecchio Sever.

Andrew J. Banas died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011.
Mr. Banas was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by four siblings, Joseph, Margaret and Edward Banas and Wilma Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna Banas; and three siblings, Mary, John and Vincent Banas.

Ethel A. Raboch Cassidy, 64, of Avalon, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011.
She is survived by two children,Tracy Fuchs and her husband John of Evans City and Lisa Cassidy of Collier Township; and a grandchild, Riley.

C. Donald Gates of Richland Township died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011.
Mr. Gates was a member of Memorial Park Church, where he was a deacon and elder. He served on the strategic planning committee, chaired the legal advisory team and served on the college of elders. He also served on the North Hills Community Outreach and Passavant Hospital boards. He was a member of Perry Masonic Lodge #119, Allegheny County Commandry, Syria Shrine, Lions International and was a former member of Wildwood Golf Club, Edgewood Club and Oceana South. He served as an elected member of McCandless Home Rule Study Commission, Richland Zoning Hearing Board, Franklin Park Civil Service Commission, was solicitor of Ross Township for 22 years and also for Kilbuck Township, as well as many other boards and organizations throughout the area.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Hunter Gates; and his daughter, Rebecca Grace Gates.

Bruce Giannotti, 64, of Emsworth, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011.
Mr. Giannotti had worked for Verizon - Cranberry Woods.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie Giannotti; brother-in-law of John Chis and his wife Julie, Mary Beth Chis and Tom Trassare; nieces, nephews and cousins; and his pets, Teddy and Celee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Leona Giannotti; his stepfather, Phil Nevarro; and his sister-in-law, Susan Trassare.

James F. Jones, 51, of Ross Township, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011.
Mr. Jones worked at Automotive Parts Warehouse. He was a member of the Garfield Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Olczak Jones; his son, Luke Beatty; six stepchildren, Anthony and Angela DiLembo, Danny and Debbie Carpenter, Kevin and Leann Beatty; four siblings, Sandy Berger, Karen Miller, Butchie Deem and Donny Jones; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Edward and Mary Ann Olczak; and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas F. and Dolores Jones.

George C. "Shad" Marlovits, 87, of Brighton Heights, formerly of Millvale, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2011.
Mr. Marlovits was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Last Man's Club for 62 years and a member of VFW Post #118 Millvale. He was an avid sports fan and in his youth, a baseball pitcher.
He is survived by his wife, Mary McGonigal Derby Marlovits; five stepchildren, Edward Derby, Sheryl Clifton and her husband James, Daniel Derby and his wife Mary, Maryann Moore and her husband Barton and Diane Berger and her husband Brian; two siblings, Caroline Hilderbrand and William Marlovits; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Caroline Marlovits; and seven siblings, Ann, Mary, Rose Marie,Catherine, John, Steve and Charles.

Patricia Sensenich, 55, of Ross Twp. died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011.
Mrs. Sensenich was an assistant manager of Kuhn's market for 34 years.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Sensenich; two children, Ben and Allison Bernardi; her brother, John Meyers and his wife Sarah; and three grandchildren, Hayden, Angelina and Scarlet.
A memorial service was held in the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon, on Thursday.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Miller Cyburt; his brother, Edward Cyburt and his wife Stephania; and 10 nieces and nephews, Daniel and his wife Bernadette, Donald and his wife Patricia, Victoria and her husband Steve, Larry, Edward L., Darlene Frissell, Kimberly Stewart, Sharon Klinefelter and her husband Jeffrey, Marie and Dr. Laura and her husband Anthony. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Aniela Cyburt; and his sister, Albina Skoczylas.

Harold A. "Tony" Zimmer, 58, of Bellevue, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2011.
He is survived by six siblings, Rick, Joe, Bob, Jan and Jane Braunlich and her husband Mike, all of Bellevue, and Tammy Bowman and her husband Terry of Zelienople; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold S. Zimmer and Mary W. Limmer; and his brother, James M. Zimmer.
