Madonna M. Halsey, 82, of Avalon, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010.
Mrs. Halsey was a longtime employee of Avalon Borough, where she worked as a clerk in the police department.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ernest C. Halsey; five grandchildren, Kelly, George, Kenny, Joe Jr. and his wife Audrey and Danny; a great-grandson, Joe III; her daughter-in-law, Debbie; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two children, Keith and Kristine; her sister, Marion; and her granddaughter, Melissa.
Friends were received at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon, where services were held on Monday.
Ann Kravetsky, 79, of Bellevue, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010.
Ms. Kravetsky was an underwriter for Aetna, Inc. She was a member of the Church of the Assumption and the Third Order Carmelites.
She is survived by three siblings, Mary K. Jaconetta and her husband Rudolph, Stella Kravetsky and Charles Kravetsky and his wife Dolores; her sister-in-law, Patricia Kravetsky; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Mary Kravetsky; and two siblings, Andrew and Catherine Kravetsky.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Saturday.
Sarah J. Merkner, 92, of Bellevue, formerly of Butler and wife of the late Albert Merkner, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2010.
She is survived by two children, Linda Narone of Bellevue and the Rev. Richard L. Merkner and his wife Susan of Kilbuck Township; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four siblings.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon, where services were held on Thursday. Burial was private.
Kevin Patrick "Big Kev" Koll died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009.
Mr. Koll was a bartender at the Hide-A-Way tavern in Avalon for 30 years.
He is survived by three siblings, Keith P. Koll, Kenneth P. Koll and Marguerite; and six nieces and nephews, Kerry, Jennifer, Luke, Matthew, Kelsey and Kaylee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Rita Koll.
A funeral mass was held in the Church of the Assumption on Monday.
Sr. M. Bernadette Giba
Sr. M. Bernadette Giba, OSF, 72, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010 at Mt. Assisi Convent Motherhouse in Bellevue.
Sr. Bernadette was formerly known as Sr. Rosita. She was a member of the School Sisters of St. Francis. She entered the convent from St. Gabriel Parish, North Side. She earned a bachelor of science degree from Carlow University and a masters of science degree from Duquesne University. She taught elementary school in many locations, including Clymer, Emmaus, Erie, Reading and Canonsburg. She was a principal for 13 years in various schools. She also ministered to the mission school in Barberton, South Africa and prepared children for First Holy Communion in the native Zulu language. Upon her return, she ministered at SS. Peter and Paul School in Tucson, AZ. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and Quiddler with her twin sister, Sr. Rosalia Giba, also a Sister of St. Francis.
She is survived by two sisters, Sr. Rosalia Giba and Mary Giba of Sebring, FL; her brother, Anthony Giba of the North Side; her nephew, David and his wife Lisa; a grandniece, Jennifer Foor; and her great-grandnephew, Tyler Foor of Ft. Hood, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Joseph and Julia Porubba Giba; and three siblings, Sr. Barbara, Theresa Pappert and Paul Giba.
Friends were received at Mt. Assisi Convent. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in Queen of Angels Chapel, Mt. Assisi, on Monday. Arrangements were made by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue.
Ella Hitchak Yakim of Brighton Heights, wife of the late Theodore Yakim, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010.
She is survived by her daughter, Michaelene Johnston and her husband Roy; four grandchildren, Leigh Ann Johnston, R. David Johnston, Melissa O'Brien and Douglas Johnston; two great-grandchildren, Michael Henry O'Brien and Kate Elizabeth O;Brien; and a dear friend, Howard Domke.

Helen M. Keller, 70, of Ross Township, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010.
She is survived by her husband, Donald G. Keller; her daughter, Kathy Keller; and two siblings, Mary Jane Hardgrove and Tony Gallagher.

Francis J. "Frank" Donatelli, 94, of Brighton Heights died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010.
Mr. Donatelli was a 1934 graduate of Oliver High School and a 1939 graduate of Geneva College. He studied civil engineering at Carnegie Tech, now CMU. He retired as vice president from Gannett Fleming, Inc. after 27 years of service. He was a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus, Bellevue Council #1400 and a past member of ISDA.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Delmonico Donatelli; three children, Robert A. Donatelli and his wife Patricia of Ellicott City, MD, Thomas F. Donatelli of Mt. Lebanon and Mary Frances Kahn of Sewickley; four grandchildren, Nicole McNamara, Jennifer Donatelli, Allison Kahn and Hannah Kahn; and a great-granddaughter, Madelynn McNamara. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Philomena Donatelli; his son-in-law, Steven Kahn; and two sisters, Florence Williams and Elena Forman.

Michael Henry Wehner, 61, of Brighton Heights, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010.
Mr. Wehner was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 285. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served two tours in Vietnam in the 25th Division.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Wehner; four children, Victoria Nguyen and her husband Kuong, Phillip Wehner, Lisa Dzubinski and her husband Jeffrey and Paul Wehner; three siblings, Robert Wehner and his wife Ellen, Harriet Hanlon and her husband Robert and Mary Glazer; six grandchildren, Kimberly, Danny, Salena, Mariella, Jake and Ava; his aunt, Helen Wehner; his sister-in-law, Martine Wehner; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna McGrath Wehner; his brother, Paul Wehner; and his brother-in-law, Albert Glazer.

Earl T. Anderson of Pittsburgh died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010.
Mr. Anderson was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from US Steel. He was a member of Bellevue VFW and McKees Rocks American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Romano Anderson; his son, Earl V. Anderson; two sisters, Lillian Kutcher and LaVerne Thomson; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Philomena Anderson; and two siblings, Grace Boysen and Richard Anderson.

Anna M. Pribilovich of Valencia, PA, wife of the late Frank R. Pribilovich, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2010.
She is survived by five children, Frank J.R. Pribilovich and his wife Linda of Reserve Township, Andrew Pribilovich and his wife Elinda of Port Vue, PA, Barbara Suslovic and her husband Greg of Streetsboro, OH, Carolyn Shamonsky and her husband Michael of Brighton Heights and Diana McMurray and her husband Larry of West Deer Township; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Clara E. Morrow Staudenmaier, 95, of Valencia, PA, formerly of the North Side and wife of the late James E. Staudenmaier, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009.
Mrs. Staudenmaier enjoyed crafts and needlework. She donated afghans and lap robes that she had made to nursing homes throughout the region.
She is survived by her son, Roy Staudenmaier and his wife Dorothy of Littleton, CO; two granddaughters, Tara Fitzgerald of Conifer, CO and Robin Carscallen of Golden, CO; and five grandchildren, Aaron, Kyle and Cameron Fitzgerald of Conifer and Ashlyn and Evan Carscallen of Golden. She was preceded in death by two siblings, Thomas and Jane Morrow.
A private memorial service was held. Burial was in Uniondale Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to First Presbyterian Church of Bakerstown, P.O. Box 127, Bakerstown, PA 15007. Arrangements were made by Schellhaas Funeral Home, Bakerstown.
