Joseph Tumpa Sr.
Joseph C. Tumpa Sr., 91, of West Deer Township, formerly of Avalon and husband of the late Julia M. Visnansky Tumpa, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.
Mr. Tumpa was a member of Utility Workers of America (AFL-CIO) Local #433.
He is survived by three children, Paul G. Tumpa, David Tumpa and his wife Mandy and Susan Fuchs and her husband Paul; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph C. Tumpa Jr.; his daughter-in-law, Carol Banyas Tumpa; five siblings, Michael Tumpa, Frances Astarb, Katherine Sestrich, Barbara Visnansky and Anna Johns; and his granddaughter, Karen Tumpa.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Monday.

Helen Richards
Helen Hohman Richards, 94, formerly of Bellevue and wife of the late George Richards, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009.
Mrs. Richards was a longtime member of Bellevue United Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her nephew, Rusty Hohman; and other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by eight siblings, Elmer, George, William, Albert, Stella, Katherine, Margaret and Mary.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon. Burial was in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.

Robert Carlin
Robert G. Carlin, 54, of Loxahatchee, FL, formerly of Avalon, died Oct. 26, 2009.
Mr. Carlin is survived by his wife, Doris Carlin; two daughters, Lisa Carlin and Michelle Carlin; a granddaughter, Kaylee Mahr; four siblings, William Carlin, Ron Carlin, Donna Corfield and her husband Lee, and Lorie Grantz and her husband John; and nieces and nephews.

Michael Lomnicki
Michael D. Lomnicki, 51, of Ross Township, formerly of Bellevue, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009.
Mr. Lomnicki was a customer service representative with Aetna Insurance.
He is survived by his sister, Madeline Stofko and her husband Edward; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Micheline Lomnicki.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue, where a blessing service was held on Friday. Burial was in Economy Cemetery, Ambridge.

Emma Rimsky
Emma Delores Rimsky, 90, of Annapolis, MD, formerly of Bellevue and wife of the late Andrew A. Rimsky, died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009.
She is survived by her son, Gerald Andrew Rimsky and his wife Bette; two siblings, Michael Molnar and Helen Fekete; her granddaughter, Andrea Horning and her husband Steve; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Andy and Lily Horning; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Molnar.
There was no visitation. Friends were invited to a committal service in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery on Friday. Arrangements were made by the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon.

Paul Nettrour Jr.
Paul W. Nettrour Jr., 81, of St. Paul Homes, Greenville, PA, formerly of Bellevue and husband of the late Catherine Hope Panagulias Nettrour, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009.
Mr. Nettrour was a graduate of Bellevue High School and Allegheny College. He was the retired president of Martin and Nettrour, Inc. He was a member of Infinity Lodge #546 F&AM, Scottish Rite and Shrine and Masonic Jesters. He also was a longtime member of Shannopin Country Club, Highland Country Club, the Duquesne Club and the University Club.
He is survived by two siblings, Charles E. Nettrour and his wife Mary Lou of McCandless Township and Lois Durawski of St. Louis, MO; his step-granddaughter, Christine Hudson; seven nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Janet Nettrour.

Amanda Bussard
Amanda Bussard, 24, of Camden, NC died Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009.
She is survived by her parents, Tyler and Robin McKerahan Bussard; three siblings, Leanna, Shelby and Tyler; her grandparents, Pat and Don McKerahan and Ronald L. Bussard Sr., all of Pittsburgh; and aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lora Mae Bussard.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon, where services were held on Saturday. Burial was in Uniondale Cemetery.

Margaret Zeleny
Margaret D. Vrecenar Zeleny, 92, of Chesapeake, VA, formerly of Ross Township and wife of the late Albert Zeleny, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009.
Mrs. Zeleny was retired from Armor Meat Packing Co. She enjoyed gardening and exercising.
She is survived by her brother, Anthony Vrecenar of Plum Borough; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Mary Vrecenar; and three siblings, Pauline, Joseph and Michael Vrecenar.

Kathleen Novosel
Kathleen C. Novosel, 62, of Ross Township, wife of the late Barry J. Novosel Sr., died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009.
She is survived by two sons, Barry J. Novosel Jr. and his wife Kathleen S. and Darren J. Novosel and his wife Heather; three siblings, John Benkart, Carol Heyl and Barb Salinetro; three grandchildren, Joseph, Alexandria and Makyla; nieces and nephews; and longtime companion, Jesse Price. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Anne Benkart; and three siblings, Earl Benkart Jr., Ray Benkart and Shirley Brandl.

Helen L. Kucan Shamick, wife of the late Joseph William Shamick, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009.
She is survived by her son, William J. Shamick of Michigan; three siblings, Margaret Zientara, Mary Hamas and Edward Kucan. She was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Kucan.

Carrie O'Mara, 82, of Castle Shannon, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009.
She is survived by three children, Laura Carlquist and her husband Eric, Scott O'Mara and his wife Beverly and Brice O'Mara and his wife Sharon; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

William Surenda
William R. Surenda died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009.
He is survived by two sisters, Edna R. Surenda and Alma M. Surenda; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Angeline Radanovich Surenda; and two siblings, Rita C. and Andrew R. Surenda.

Louise Law
Louise A. Law, wife of the late Edward J. Law, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009.
She is survived by three sons, Gary Law and his wife Nancy, Eric Law and his wife Donna and Mark Law and his wife Sandy; and two granddaughters, Melissa and Rebecca. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Anne Glogowski; and her brother, Michael S. Glenn.

Robert L. Workman died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne M. Morozowich Workman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorma Workman.

Lisa Ann Shriner
Lisa Ann Shriner, 43, of Murphy, TX, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Shriner; two children, Lauren and Steven; her father, Bernard Rowen; and two siblings, Carrie Gable and Robert Rowan.

Elizabeth Bertges
Elizabeth C. Bertges, 90, of Ross Township, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009.
Mrs. Bertges was a longtime member of St. Cyril of Alexandria Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and also a member of AARP #1435.
She is survived by her husband, Charles O. Bertges; two daughters, Betty Koch and her husband Bernard of McCandless Township and Barbara Friedel and her husband Ralph of Baden, PA; her sister, Martha Scott; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susanne Kaminski.

Joseph R. LaRosa Jr. of Brighton Heights died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Connie LaRosa; his son, Joseph V. LaRosa and his wife Darla; and two grandchildren, Vincent and Vittoria. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose LaRosa.

Michael L. Sanguigni, 24, of Pittsburgh, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009.
He is survived by his daughter, Gabriella Sanguigni; his parents, Alexander D. Sanguigni Jr. of North Side and Laura J. Sanguigni of Bellevue; two siblings, Travis Sears and Kaitlyn Sanguigni; his grandparents, Alexander D. Sanguigni Sr. of Cranberry Township and Margaret Sullivan-Sanguigni of North Hills; three uncles, Robert, Kevin and Matthew Sanguigni; his aunt, Bridget Clarke; and a dear friend, Stacy Klein.

Rose Balestrieri
Rose Machi Balestrieri, wife of the late Philip Balestrieri, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009.
Mrs. Balestrieri was a member of St. Cyril of Alexandria Ladies Guild and Ladies of Charity.
She is survived by four children, Mary Stauffer, Thomas F. Balestrieri and his wife Valerie, Antoinette Schipani and her husband Joseph and Frank P. Balestrieri and his wife Kathy; three siblings, Antoinette Machi, Joseph Machi and Antonette Natto; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothea; and three brothers, Michael, Mario and Frank Machi.

Wilma Jean Carpenter-McKelvia
Wilma Jean Carpenter-McKelvia, 64, of the North Side, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009.
She is survived by her mother, Mattie Sue Gist; 12 children; 20 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Friends were received at Robinson Funeral Home, Perry Hilltop. A celebration of life service was held in Greater Allen A.M.E. Church, Brighton Heights, on Wednesday. Burial was in Allegheny Cemetery.
