Elizabeth Platek
Elizabeth M. Platek, 78, wife of the late Lawrence B. Platek, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009.
She is survived by her daughter, Penny Platek; four siblings, George and Robert Henrish, Margaret Nolfe and Florence DeAngelis; nieces and nephews; and her pets, Xena and Misha. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Teresa and Jody Ann Platek; and six siblings, Michael, John and James Henrish, Anna Matusky, Kathryn Davenport and Helen Mezzetti.
There was no visitation, and services and burial were private. Memorials are suggested to ASPCA or St. Jude Children's Hospital. Arrangements were made by the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue.

Dennis Francis
Dennis Michael Francis, 65, of West View, formerly of Millvale and Bellevue, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.
Mr. Francis was a 1962 graduate of North Catholic High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1965, and was stationed in Germany. In his younger days, he was a Golden Gloves boxer and he enjoyed horse racing.
He is survived by his parents, Paul E. Francis of Mt. Washington and Ruth E. Kinley Francis of Avalon; four siblings, Paul Francis and his wife Ann, Ronald Francis and his wife Arlene, Kathleen Krzywiki and her husband Charles and Sheila Burke and her husband Denis; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Friends were received at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, Avalon. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Monday.

Mark Boscardin
Mark John Boscardin of Pittsburgh died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.
Mr. Boscardin attended St. Cyril of Alexandria Grade School and was a 1967 graduate of North Catholic High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Rankin LKA 103 as a Radioman 2nd Class. After his military service, he attended Point Park College and graduated cum laude, and received his master's degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh and managed the tutorial program at Point Park College. He moved on to a sales career, working as regional manager for Liken Medical and National Development. He was an avid reader and enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing poker.
He is survived by his mother, Louise M. Boscardin; two siblings, Milo J. Boscardin and his wife Jan and Mary Jean Downie and her husband Alastair of White Bear Lake, MN; five nieces and nephews, Danielle Skirtish, Jessica, Kiefer, Gina and Richard J.; dear friends, Pat and Mary Murphy; and aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Boscardin.
Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side, where a blessing service was held on Wednesday. Burial was in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Donations are suggested to the Carnegie Library.

John Shannon Jr.
John T. "Sonny" Shannon, 59, of Brighton Heights, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2009.
Mr. Shannon was a longtime Pittsburgh Press employee. He was an international representative of GCC/IBT Union and past president of Local 9.
He is survived by his wife, Loren Renee Bright Shannon; two children, John T. "Jack" Shannon and his wife Kelly and Sonny Leigh Shannon; four siblings, Patrick F. Shannon, Charlotte Shanon, Jacquelyn Boggs and Michael Shannon; four grandchildren, Kelsey Leigh, J.T. IV, Desmond and Madalynn; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine and Mary Shannon.
Friends were received at T.B. Devlin Funeral Home, North Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Peter Church, North Side, on Friday.

Marion Conti
Marion Campbell Conti, 67, of Ross Township, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009.
Mrs. Conti was a volunteer for the Pittsburgh Gold Club and a member of the Steel City Fins Parrothead Club. She served with the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Purdue Club.
She is survived by her husband, Louis Conti; two sons, Brian Conti and his fiance Susan of Franklin Park and Russell Conti and his wife Nadia of Ft. Myers, FL; and two sisters, Elizabeth Puskas of Mt. Lebanon and Helen Campbell of Brookline.
Friends were received at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home, Ross Township. A Mass of Christian Burial was held in the Church of the Assumption on Friday.

James Ott
James F. Ott, 85, formerly of Sewickley and husband of the late Ethelda Ott, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 in Avilla, IN.
He is survived by six children, Joanne Stutz of Avilla, Thais Fox of Cary, NC, Evelyn Casasanta of Coraopolis, Thelma Panel of Emporium, James Ott Jr. of Emsworth and Hilary of Mechanicsburg.
Friends were received at Easly Funeral Home, Hastings. A funeral mass was held on Thursday in St. Boniface Church.

Sandor Toth
Sandor Toth, 72, of Bellevue died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009.
Mr. Toth was a Hungarian Freedom Fighter in 1956. He immigrated to the United States in 1957 with his wife and baby. He was a master machinist for Lang Machinery, and raised champion English Pouters. He also enjoyed camping and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Ilona Toth; two daughters, Erika Barrett and Michelle Seymour; two grandchildren, Marika Buck and her husband Jared and Nick Barrett; and two great-grandsons, Aiden and Kaleb. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Toth.
There was no visitation. Arrangements were made by Stephen M. Brady Funeral Home, North Side.

Donald Batykefer
Donald J. Batykefer, 65, of Emsworth, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009.
He is survived by three siblings, Ralph Batykefer, Dorothy Holman and Lois Omslaer; and three nieces and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Batykefer and Dorothy Wilt.
Friends were received at Joseph M. Somma Funeral Home, Robinson Township, until the time of services on Monday.

William Clark
William L. Clark, 50, of Brighton Heights, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009.
Mr. Clark was a member of Islam Grotto and F&AM Lodge #725.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Varion Clark; three children, Leslie Clark and her husband John, William L. Clark Jr. and his wife Krissy and Steven M. Clark; three brothers, George K. Clark Jr., John Robert Clark and James E. Clark; and three grandchildren, John and Adrianna Fletcher and Liam Clark.
Friends were received at T.B. Devlin Funeral Home, North Hills, where services were held on Thursday.
