Daisy Channing
Daisy Sanders Channing, 89, of Bellevue, formerly of Monongahela and wife of the late Jack Channing, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009.
Mrs. Channing volunteered for Meals On Wheels for many years. She regularly donated blood and was a bodybuilder in the 1940s and a member of the downtown Pittsburgh YMCA.
She is survived by four children, Charles "Buck" Channing and his wife Jackie, Kim O'Malley and her husband Bob, James and Ronald Channing and his wife Diana; eight grandchildren, Aaron and her partner Caroline, Nicole, Shawn and his wife Stephanie, Christopher, Katie, Ryan, Brittany and R.J.; and seven great-grandchildren, Jaide, Shawn, Brendan, Ireland, Caleb, Alyah and Ashton.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue, until the time of services on Saturday.
Nancy Speicher
Nancy Speicher, 54, of McCandless Township, formerly of Bellevue, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009.
Mrs. Speicher was a paraprofessional in the North Allegheny School District. She was a former 911 dispatcher and a quality assurance assistant in the Allegheny County 911 center.
She is survived by her husband, Warren K. Speicher; and four children, Bethany L., Cassandra L., Kayla A. and Travis J. Speicher.
Friends were received at the Orion C. Pinkerton Funeral Home, Avalon, where services were held on Monday. Burial was in Allegheny County Memorial Park. Donations are suggested to the National Foundation of Infectious Disease, 4733 Bethesda Ave., Suite 750, Bethesda, MD 20814.
Russell Block
Russell Charles Block, 87, of Charlottesville, VA, formerly of Avalon, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009.
Mr. Block was U.S. Marine and veteran of World War II. He also served as a diplomatic courier to presidents F. D Roosevelt and Harry Truman.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Block; stepdaughters, Wanda Craddock of Apex, NC, and Wendy Sprouse and her husband Harry of Waynesboro, VA; four grandchildren, Rachel Craddock of Apex, NC, Emily Craddock of Charlottesville, VA, Tamarah Sprouse of Stuarts Draft, VA, and Christopher Sprouse of Waynesboro, VA; a great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Schuebel of Stuarts Draft, VA; and his sister, Dolores "Dolly" Block of Avalon. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell A. and Alice C. Block, and his sister Lois Jane Block.

Deno Fiffas
Deno Fiffas of Brighton Heights died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Vugrinovich Fiffas; two children, Lou and Dana; three sisters, Stella, Kelly and Georgia; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lou and Helen Fiffas; and two brothers, Jim and Alec Frankos.
Friends were received at Stephen M. Brady Funeral Home, North Side. Funeral services were held in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, North Side, on Monday.
Harry Marzolf Jr.
Harry Marzolf Jr. of Brighton Heights, husband of the late Shirley Marzolf, died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009.
Mr. Marzolf was a longtime member and elder of Providence United Presbyterian Church in Brighton Heights. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II.
He is survived by four sons, Richard Marzolf, Gary Marzolf and his wife Jan, Jeffrey Marzolf and his wife Carol and Mark Marzolf and his wife Missy; five grandchildren, Michele Rutter, Heidi Shindledecker, Stephen Marzolf, Jeffrey Marzolf Jr. and Robert Marzolf; and two great-granddaughters, Brooke and Paige Rutter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Margaret Marzolf; and his sister, Louise Marzolf.
Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side, where services were held on Wednesday.
Rose Ann Young
Rose Ann Young, 78, of Canfield, OH, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009.
Mrs. Young was a member of St. Michael Church in Canfield and taught literacy. She also was a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority.
She is survived by her husband, Harry E. Young II; her son, Harry E. Young III; four siblings, Sam Cammarata and his wife Peg, Joe Cammarata and his wife Chris, Nancy Belmar and Mary Jane Leonetti; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cataldo and Lena Cammarata; two brothers, Al Cammarata and his wife Fran and Bill Cammarata; and her brother-in-law, Fred Belmar.
Friends were received at the Lawrence T. Miller Funeral Home, Bellevue, where services were held on Monday. Burial was in Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery.
Rose Balestrieri
Rose Machi Balestrieri, wife of the late Philip Balestrieri, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009.
Mrs. Balestrieri was a member of St. Cyril of Alexandria Ladies Guild and Ladies of Charity.
She is survived by four children, Mary Stauffer, Thomas F. Balestrieri and his wife Valerie, Antoinette Schipani and her husband Joseph and Frank P. Balestrieri and his wife Kathy; three siblings, Antoinette Machi, Joseph Machi and Antonette Natto; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothea; and three brothers, Michael, Mario and Frank Machi.
Friends were received at Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, North Side. A funeral mass was held in St. Cyril of Alexandria Church on Wednesday.
