A man killed by a train in Avalon last Friday morning has been identified as Tim Opperman, 53, of Ivory Avenue, North Side.

The incident, which occurred just before 10 a.m., remains under investigation by Avalon and Allegheny County police.

Opperman was hit by a westbound train on the tracks near Birmingham Avenue in Avalon. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
