Avalon will not see the benefit of allowing Bellevue pool pass holders to use Avalon's pool at the beginning of the season.
When Bellevue was unable to get its pool open by Memorial Day, pass holders from the neighboring borough were allowed to use Avalon's pool at no additional cost. The agreement at the time was that Bellevue would return the favor at the end of the season, after the Labor Day holiday.
Avalon borough manager Harry Dilmore reported at Tuesday's council meeting that he had been informed by the Bellevue pool manager, Swim America, that the company's contract with Bellevue expires before then. The manager offered to allow Avalon residents to use Bellevue's pool on Labor Day weekend instead.
Dilmore said that Avalon already had planned to have its pool open that weekend. Council agreed that Avalon would stick to the original schedule and have the swimming pool open over the holiday weekend.
