New locks needed

Ben Avon Council is considering changing the lock on the business office in the borough building.

Borough secretary Carmella Halstein told council at Tuesday's meeting that, although nothing is missing or nothing has been broken, she has noticed evidence that someone has been in the office on different occasions.

She said it seems to be children, as papers had been scribbled on, the label-maker was used to make unintelligible labels, etc. The thought was that someone stopped into the office with their child and left the child unattended.

When discussing who had keys to the building, members pointed out that many people, including previous council members, had keys to the building but not necessarily to the business office.

Council is looking into changing the lock, and perhaps going to a number-pad entry system.
