Lowries Run Bridge restrictions end

PennDOT District 11 is announcing work to replace the bridge that carries Route 65 (Ohio River Boulevard) over Lowries Run between Hiland Avenue and Camp Horne Road in the Borough of Emsworth, Allegheny County, has concluded for this year’s construction season. Single lane traffic restrictions on Route 65 were lifted today, Friday, Dec. 3.

The restrictions were removed shortly before noon. Route 65 is now fully reopened to two lanes in each direction in this area.

Traffic was reduced to a single lane in each direction since May to allow crews to replace one half of the bridge. Work and traffic restrictions will resume in early March 2011. The remainder of work to replace the second half of the structure will conclude in November 2011.

The $2.9 million project includes replacement of the existing single span through-girder bridge over Lowries Run, approach work and other miscellaneous construction between Locust Street and Beaver Avenue. The prime contractor is the Lane Construction Company of Pittsburgh.
