There are two very popular programs on television: “Survivor” and “The Biggest Loser.” I watch The Biggest Loser because I sincerely root for all the people working 100 percent harder than I ever could to become healthier, look better and live longer. That they may gain quite a bit of money in the doing is of no concern to me. “Survivor,” on the other hand, is all about putting everyone else out of commission. Ironically, I think the titles of these two programs should be reversed.
Our beloved hospital is either in danger of not surviving, only partially surviving, or, if God would have great mercy, completely surviving.
I’ve been to churches where the only ones prayed for at “prayer time” is Uncle Jack, Cousin Suzie, and people with first names only.Outside of church families or friends, prayers are sparse if offered at all for people, places or things that are in desperate need of God’s intervention. My husband and I have been praying for Suburban General Hospital for years. I absolutely refuse to call it Suburban Campus. Actually I have been one of its MVPs (most valuable patients), having been an inpatient 14 times in 15 years, and I can no longer remember how many ER trips. Everyone I know needs our hospital. People I don’t know need our hospital.
I am writing this hoping that everyone will take Suburban General to their heart and really pray for it to continue to provide health and life, and survive rather than result in the biggest loser this area will ever sustain.
