Kilbuck Township officials will try to address at least a couple drainage issues plaguing residents, although some may have to wait.
Tuesday’s rescheduled meeting of the township supervisors was dominated by complaints from residents about unresolved drainage issues. Eicher Road resident Lynne Mason said that her basement continues to be flooded although she notified officials of the probloem two years ago.
According to Mason, water began coming onto her property after curbs were installed on part of Eicher. Township secretary Harry Dilomore said that officials had investigated the problem and run into an issue over jurisdiction. Dilmore said that an engineer had determined that the water was coming from Roosevelt Road, which is a state highway. That limits the township’s ability to solve the run-off problem, Dilmore said.
“It’s not our water,” he told the supervisors.
The situation also is complicated by a “structure” in Mason’s yard that directs water toward the home, which has sunken window wells, Dilmore said.
Supervisors chairman John Fader said that the township engineer and one of the supervisors would revisit the problem.
The trouble fixing a drainage problem on Camp Horne Road that dates back to Hurricane Ivan is slightly different. Officials said that they advertised for a contractor to fix a broken pipe, but received no bids.
The township once again will advertise for bids, which this time could include an offer from Supervisor Tom Tomaro, who is a contractor. Tomaro said that he was reluctant to bid on the project because he was a supervisor, but would do so if bids were not received from other companies.
At least one drainage issue will be addressed in the near future. The supervisors voted to award a contract for work on Newgate Road to Intex Contracting, Inc. at a cost of $6,985.
