A contribution of $2,500 to the North Boroughs Independence Day fireworks celebration was approved by Bellevue Council at its June 2 meeting.

The event, which will be held July 3 at Avalon Field, is held through donations from each of the North Boroughs municipalities as well as private contributions.

Bellevue also will hold its own July 4th celebration at Memorial Park, and voted to allocate $600 for the event, as well as offer free admission to the swimming pool.

Council members Mark Helbling, Lisa Blaney-Stewart and Jerry Walter were absent.
