Incumbents re-elected in Bellevue

All three incumbents seeking election to Bellevue Council will return to their seats in January, where they will be joined by two newcomers.

Bellevue voters decided council races in each of the borough's three wards, including a close race in the first ward that ultimately ended with both Kathleen Coder and Jane Braunlich returned to council.

The two incumbents each led the ballot in one of the ward's two districts, with Republican Coder getting the most votes overall.

Democrat Braunlich edged out Republican newcomer David Piet, while Democrat Susan Schafer came in a distant fourth for the two open council seats.

In Bellevue's second ward, Democrats Susan and Jim Viscusi, husband and wife, took the two open seats, defeating Republican Nicholas Myers.

Democrat Mark Panichella, who has just completed his first month as an appointed member of Bellevue Council, handily won the one seat open there. Republican Jerry Walter, who resigned from council in August but never removed his name from the ballot, received more than 100 votes, while write-in Republican candidate David Price came in third.

Unofficial vote totals were:

Coder 247
Braunlich 218
Piet 209
Schafer 148

In the borough's only constable race in the first ward, Democrat Patrick Jennings Sr. defeated Republican Bryan Kenyon. Vote totals were:

Jennings 265
Kenyon 170

Bellevue voters also elected a mayor, tax collector and auditor in unopposed, borough-wide races featuring incumbents. Vote totals were:

Mayor - George Doscher 873

Tax Collector - Joe Nolan 1,027

Auditor - Lenora Bauer 780
