Senior Avonworth basketball player Tara Gallupe signed a letter of intent last Monday to attend Walsh University in Canton, OH, where she will pursue a degree in bioinformatics while also playing for the Division II Cavaliers.

Tara has played both forward and center for Avonworth for the past four years under the guidance of former head coach Julie Tullar and current coach Bob Schulz.

Speaking of Tara's skills, Schulz said, "She'll be co-captain this year. She's an outstanding player who is very physical. She's a triple threat -- she has a great jump shot, has the ability to drive to the basket, and shoots well from the perimeter."

Walsh head basketball coach Laurel Wartluft was on hand for the signing.

Tara is the daughter of Christina and Todd Gallupe of Ohio Township.
