Employee remembered

By ROBERTA O'BRIEN

The April 19 Northgate School District Board meeting was opened by honoring an employee who died recently of cancer.

Paul Schmidt had worked for the district since graduating from Bellevue High School in 1978. He started his career as a janitor, and held several positions, until his most recent in preventive maintenance.

"Paul was a great employee with a breadth and depth of knowledge across many areas …. He was funny, and kind, and considerate …. Paul was a truly great guy and a valuable employee, who will be missed by everyone who knew him, said superintendent Dr. Reggie Bonfield, mentioned that Schmidt had received many commendations over the years, and held a number of special certificates including AC/refrigeration and electrical. He also had perfect attendance, Bonfield said.

Board members offered personal anecdotes about Schmidt before holding a moment of silence.
