Boy Scout Troop 321 added another Eagle Scout to its roster in a court of honor recognizing Jacob George for his accomplishments during his seven years as a Boy Scout.
In the ceremony held last Sunday at the Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church, assistant scoutmaster Steve Cupcheck said that anyone who achieves Eagle status represents “…the perfect, ultimate, complete Scout.”
For his project, Jacob led fellow Scouts in the construction of fencing that borders several hundred feet of Avon Park in Ben Avon. Borough Council member Dr. Lloyd Corder said, “It’s absolutely beautiful. It has dramatically changed the tone of the park. Our thanks for making a difference in your home town.”
Jacob, who also spent seven years as a Cub Scout, spoke of the rewards of his scouting experience.
“On top of teaching me many skills and enforcing many ideals that most people aren’t very accustomed to, scouting has helped me to hone my competence as a leader and has exposed me to some of my closest friends.”
Jacob, the son of Susan and Charles George of Ben Avon, will attend the University of Pittsburgh in September, where he will major in chemical engineering.
